Hello everyone From Snowy Houston!

We got about 2.5 to 3.0 inches of snow on December 11! and the kids played late into the night. The kids built a 7 foot tall snowman. We need to build a ramp from 2x4 and plywood in order to roll the large snow ball up into the middle position. The kids have been having a great holiday. Grama was able to come early and see the kids Christmas programs, and Grampa should be here later today (driving from sunny California). I have been working on the house, fixing thing up from the damage from Ike. We have roof, ceilings, and floors to get redone. Our family was very blessed though the storm, because our damage is relatively minor compared to our neighbors in Kemah, or Seabrook. The houses across the street from Elizabeth’s school had 5 to 8 feet of water in them!

Elizabeth has advanced to the district science fair with her project titled “PI in 2000 BC”. I think that she has enjoyed doing mathematical constructions with a compass and ruler using and improving methods developed by the Babylonians and the Egyptians. John finished up band with their winter concert and Hannah is just starting her basketball season.

I have been writing my thesis and planning my postdoc activities. Michelle has continued to work in the ER’s at the hospitals.

This letter has seemed to come out in reverse chronological order… so Summer was spent with kids going to Kansas and John going to Colorado church trip retreat. I finished up some research NMR structures and methods.

In the Spring, John won the Houston Super Regional Science Fair in Biology and advanced to the State Fair in San Antonio. Elizabeth has begun her confirmation. And Hannah rounded out her first year of school.

Jacob, of course has been a little rascal, now at 4 years old! He has been changing so fast. Now he will swim with dad and will independently dive under water, or he will hold on Dad’s shoulders as he swims laps or dives to the bottom of the pool.

Best Wishes for the Christmas Season and May God Bless You!
