A Wonderful Hat from Japan

My host mom from Japan knitted a set of stocking hats for my family this year for Christmas. Thank you so much! I love stocking hats and this red and white trimmed one for Jacob come if very handy while we were in California. What a blast to be in the snow in June! Oh, by the way, I actually often need one in Houston because the NMR lab is SOOO COOLD!

A Wonderful Day Continues

John Welch and Jason hit it off. We went to the Outback after the graduation. John and Elizabeth had a full set of jokes they had to tell Jason. My favortite was the one John told:

A Lutheran boy talking to a Baptist boy:
The Baptist boy said, "My father said that you need to be completely dunked for Baptism to count."
The Lutheran boy asked, "what about up to the waist?"
"Nope"
"What about up to your neck?"
"Nope"
"What about up to your forehead?"
"Nope"
The Lutheran boy responded .... "So you mean the top of the head is all that is important!"

Even Hannah got into the round trying to impress Jason with her humor.

A Wonderful Day

Our family had the great opportunity to take a well deserved vacation. We had not taken one in a long time. We took two weeks to go California and see both my brother's graduation and see grandma and grandpa. Here we are with Jason at the end of the commencement. He graduated Magna Cu Laude in accounting. We all had a great time and the kids really latched onto their uncle.

Life is Moving So Fast!

Well, hello everyone. I have not posted recently on either of my blogs, but I am getting some updates on both. I will try to get the back-log of post/pics that I have up on the public web. First, though I need to share with everyone how proud I am of my oldest son, John Welch, for making an important step in his walk in Christ. Last Sunday, he confirmed his faith with a public declaration of his beliefs. This is probably the most important step in his life next to Baptism. Our faith is the only thing that will ultimately matter.
