Washington on the Brazos
The beautiful blue bonnets are out in full bloom. The whole family headed out to Brenham and enjoyed a beautiful day at the Blue Bell Creamery and then stopped at one of the larger patches of blue bonnets. The Indian paint brush was also out in force.
After spend some time around Brenham we went out the Texas State Park, Washington on the Brazos. The park was having a music festival to celebrate the states historical contributions to music. We first listened to the music of Ruthie Foster and her renditions of a number of blue pieces. Then we watched the last band of the day, the Light Crust Doughboys. Both groups were great, and my son enjoyed the Doughboys the best because of the humor they incorporated into their performance.
